Demand for individual mobility has not been satisfied yet and other factors are positive, like the economic expansion, the strong incentives to electric vehicles and a growing demand for evs. These factors were expected to more than balance negative impact of growing inflation and production difficulties on raw materials purchase. The effects of Russian war in Ukraine have been strong, with fuel price at the peak in decades (although Government support) and the economy is expected to smooth the growth. The market started over expectations with first half sales at 136.506 (+7.6%). During the third quarter sales have been almost flat from the correspondent period last year, reporting a quarterly +0.8% increase. In October sales have been 11.656 (-3.2%). As consequence, sales in the first ten months of the years have been 201.862 (+4.6%) Looking at the single brand performance, the market leader Piaggio is gaining terrain with 33.412 sales (+16.8%) thanks to be success off of the new electric line up. In second place BMW with 23.035 sales (-12.0%) struggles to minimize short components supply shortage. In third place Honda with 22.618 (-10.8%), loosing deep in Q3 for product shortage. In fourth place Yamaha (+0.5%) followed by Kawasaki (-13.5%), KTM (-29.5%), Aprilia (+35.1%) and Peugeot (+23.9%). As expected, the electric segment is fueling the scooter market with year to date sales grew up 78.6% in the L1 category (correspondent to below 50cc ICE) and the L3 category up 406%.
